Figure skating has taken us on an incredible journey! In the 2019-2020 season, C joined a theatre on ice team Ocean State Ice Theatre. Unfortunately, that season and the following year were challenging due to the dark times of 2020, which significantly impacted team sports.
However, the 2021-2022 season was remarkable! C was part of the open team, allowing them to finally have a competitive season. Their free skate program was themed around Little Red Riding Hood, with C playing the role of the wolf. It was truly a fantastic season and marked C's first national competition.
During this time, C met his future pairs partner. Initially not interested in pairs, their friendship and trust grew, leading them to explore the world of pairs figure skating. Together, they embarked on a new chapter in their skating journey. What started as an excuse "for the TOI team." evolved into creating a program, testing it, and eventually competing together!
n 2023, many firsts unfolded. S and C continued their journey with Ocean State Ice Theatre, now part of the novice team for another season. Their debut at the international competition, Nations' Cup, held in Massachusetts marked a significant milestone.
The teams exceptional talent and dedication shone through as they clinched a silver medal at the 2023 Theatre on Ice Nationals.
At the National Showcase, S and C impressed the judges – securing 4th place in the duet category, and C achieving an impressive 3rd place in his solo performance among 30+ other skilled skaters. Their hard work continued to pay off, earning them 4th place at a national qualifying competition and a spot in the pairs finals.
This achievement also granted them a solo pairs performance opportunity at the 2023 Providence Holiday Show. Excited for the challenges and prospects of the upcoming season, S and C are eagerly looking forward to what lies ahead.
